Don’t get me wrong, you’re not bored of Game of Thrones or Stranger Things – they’re brilliant. But you might find yourself sinking into the couch every day after work, watching the night away and microwaving an average lasagne, and you might want to try something new for just one of these nights.
What have you always wanted to try? dancing? badminton? Why not use apps like Meetup to get involved and inject a bit of variety into your week. Whether it’s public speaking or bird-watching, putting a bit of energy into extracurricular activities could really pay off – you may even discover a hidden talent… Plus, if you don’t embarrass yourself now and again you’re not doing it right so don’t worry about being bad at it either – it will be funny later.
You don’t actually have to leave the house to try a new hobby if you don’t want to. You can try new recipes and experiment with your evening meal, or start up-cycling things you already own. The adult colouring books that went viral last year are still around, you know. You can enroll in online courses, learn to sew, listen to podcasts – you could even make podcasts! The possibilities are endless.
We’re not saying give up Netflix – we all need Jon Snow in our lives, but life is too short to spend it all in the comfort zone of the couch, even in winter.
